Who is to say what a "serious sufficient reason" is? If their church didn't approve of the married couple's reason then men would have the duty and obligation of continually impregnating their wives, and women would have no other option than getting pregnant the moment they were able to after their previous birth. And it doesn't take a rocket-surgeon to see that both are complete B.S. I believe it is the choice of both the woman and the man, married or not, to bring a child into this world. If that is taken away, the only thing that will be bred is contempt; either towards the child, each other, God, or a combination.

The indoctrination of religion still has far reaching implications in modern society through traditionally accepted norms, more's the pity. Whilst many people choose not to believe in any god, the damaging, controlling aspects of religion are still prevalent in many people's behaviour, it's an indictment on so many that they cannot accept this fact. Religion is nothing more than societal control and manipulation governed by threats of eternal damnation. Thankfully within the modern world we don't need religious control because science, through analytical examination and experimental proof, has demonstrated that much of what is claimed by religious zealots is complete nonsense, including the article linked from here. I'm all for freedom of speech of the individual but when an 'opinion' is reinforced by threats and not backed up by proof it should be ignored in it's entirety. The fact that fear is required to reinforce opinions like this makes the person who uses those threats to coerce others into a dangerous despot. This is merely an ill thought out opinion that this idiot's propagating and I have no reservations about describing him as an idiot because his ideas are based on no provable evidence. It's also laughable that the Catholic church, an institution that for hundreds of years has caused a massive amount of suffering to many children, suggests that 'God' has a plan for every child. Try telling that to the alter boys molested by paeodophile priests or children beaten by jesuit monks and catholic nuns whilst under their "care". On balance, the damage done to the world by religion in general and catholicism specifically far outweighs any of the suggested benefits.

Hitler believed in control through ultimate fear too. It's time more people woke up and smelled the coffee.

No wonder I'm no longer Catholic.

The simplest answer is the most probable answer, Catholic answers are going in circles...
